Hotel Acta The Avenue

We had a good stay and would come back. The hotel isn't in the city center, but a quick, cheap Uber ride worked well for us. Our room was very clean and spacious compared with other European hotels I've stayed at, and we could set the temperature ourselves. There was also a mini fridge and a safe. At check-in, we found out our reservation had been canceled because the payment link had gone to junk mail. The woman at the front desk was understanding and booked us another room right away. It cost just 3 euros more than our original booking from a couple of months earlier, and she let us check in early. The lobby looked very modern, with chairs and a bar, though we didn't have time to try either.

The room stayed warm and comfortable through the January winter, and we couldn't hear the construction across the street because our room faced the inner part of the building. We found a few minor maintenance issues in the bathroom and reported them to management. We were here as a couple for three nights on a Porto city break. The main sights are about a 20-minute walk away, which worked well for exploring. Staff were friendly and professional, breakfast was good, and the price seemed fair for a 4-star hotel. A very good stay.

Everyone we spoke with, from reception to the hostess, was friendly and professional. They had plenty of suggestions for places to see, local food, and avoiding tourist traps. We'd happily stay here again when we return to Porto, where there's still so much to see. We spent three nights in a spacious junior suite with lots of windows and a balcony. The hotel is ideally placed, a few minutes' walk from 24 de Agosto Metro. Construction was going on across the road, but with the windows shut we couldn't hear it. They supplied a complimentary bottle of water on the first day, plus espresso pods and plenty of sugar, with the pods replenished daily.

The staff were great throughout. Housekeepers were polite, and so was the front desk team. At breakfast, the workers were friendly, professional, patient, and efficient. The hotel was clean and comfortable, in a convenient location, and the prices felt fair. I definitely recommend it.
