Almada Guesthouse

The location is a 10/10, right in the center. We stayed in a beautiful historic building that was really well kept, and our room was roomy, clean, and well equipped. There were plenty of towels and blankets, plus a lovely balcony. Our flight was delayed, so we arrived very late, but the caretaker was incredibly accommodating and welcomed us warmly.

The location is really convenient, with everywhere within walking distance, though getting back means a climb. The price feels high for the facilities and service. A kettle would have helped, and a fridge would be useful since there’s no breakfast. The rooms also look and feel musty and outdated.

The housekeeper didn’t speak English, but she was patient while I tried to communicate in the little Galician I know. Galician and Portuguese are very, very similar. The bathroom is old, though it worked fine and was always clean and in perfect condition. My bedroom was comfortable and beautifully decorated, and the guesthouse has air conditioning and a lovely balcony. It’s charming and traditional, not a luxury place, but I loved it. I recommend it 100%. Ignore the bad reviews and stay here!

The street was pleasantly quiet, even though this traditional house is right in the center of Porto, close to lots of cafes and restaurants. The staff were super friendly, and the bed was cosy. I loved staying here.
