Casa do Arquiteto - Townhouse

The property is still beautiful, though dealing with the cancellation was difficult. I had complained about a major delay in getting my refund, but I’ve finally been reimbursed and would like to take down that negative review. I can’t remove it, and I don’t want to cause problems for the business.

This is one of the best rooms I’ve had in all my years of traveling. The property is in a great spot in Porto, and I can’t wait to stay there again and again. Danielle was very thorough when checking my partner and me in. She showed us places to visit and pointed us to their apps, which included suggested itineraries and restaurants.

The construction noise ran from 8 am to 6 pm every day, and there was an unpleasant smell in the room. After a long trip, we needed to rest. The heavy work right outside our premium room looked likely to continue for months. Before booking directly, I’d called to check that the room would be quiet, and the manager assured me there’d be no noise. With no other room available, Daniela offered us the option to leave and said the manager had approved a full refund so we could move elsewhere. She confirmed it in writing and said the refund would be processed. Weeks went by, and every time we followed up, we were told it would arrive “next week.” Daniela later said she’d escalate it, but eventually an email said management had changed its mind and wouldn’t honor the refund, without explaining why. Calls went unanswered, emails were ignored, and our numbers were eventually blocked. I’ve stayed in hotels around the world, and this was an awful, dishonest experience. It’s very disappointing to have to write this. This Townhouse misled us from beginning to end. We found somewhere else that was quiet, had no construction outside the room, and was in a better location. I wouldn’t recommend staying here.

We spent two nights here in November 2024, and it was the best experience we had in Porto. The breakfast was gourmet quality, and the staff were amazing. Daniel was especially helpful and absolutely magnificent. Everything was very clean and nicely furnished. We’d definitely stay again and wholeheartedly recommend it.
