Casas do Palácio

The refund for the unused nights was based on a lower nightly rate than we had paid, and we’re still trying to recover the difference. We had booked a 95-night stay in Porto, but after rain, serious roof leaks started a few days in. I sent Hostwise photos and videos right away. Soon after, part of the roof came down into a passageway. For at least nine nights, water kept leaking and we were genuinely afraid the roof could fall on us and our dog. The issue never got properly fixed despite all our messages through the platform, so we had to leave. The damp room and constant dripping also affected my health, and I ended up with bronchospasm. Unexpected property problems can happen, but the response matters. The place no longer felt habitable or safe, and the host/manager’s handling was nowhere near what I expected. I wouldn’t book with Hostwise again. Future guests should read the terms and reviews carefully before choosing this accommodation. Don’t book any Hostwise property! They only care about money, not guests.

I’d booked well ahead, and on the day they confirmed everything and sent the door code plus instructions for getting the key from a lockbox. Then I arrived and found someone else in the apartment, renting it long term. The manager said they’d sold the apartments and told me to find somewhere else. So you only find out at the last minute that you may be left without a place. Luckily, I’d booked through Booking.com and got my money back.

Soraia was a lovely, very attentive host, and the apartments were kept in beautiful condition in an ideal spot. If we come back to Porto, we’ll definitely stay at Casas do Palácio again. She made the whole stay feel perfect.

Soraya was friendly, attentive, and efficient. The place was really comfortable and practical, and it made a great impression. We had a great time.
