City View - Santa Catarina

The location was good, but it didn’t come close to making up for my experience, and I can’t recommend this place. I was given a smaller apartment than I’d booked. The room had water coming in when it rained, and the wall stayed wet, damp, and mouldy. There was a musty, smoky smell that never went away. For months, a mouse left droppings around my kitchen and ate my food. I reported the problems repeatedly, but wasn’t taken seriously, and staff were often dismissive and disrespectful. The dishwasher had been broken since I moved in. After several unsuccessful repair attempts, I was told I shouldn’t complain because it wasn’t included in my reservation. I was also told that this sort of issue was to be expected in an older building. I don’t agree. Rain getting into a room, damp, mould, and a lasting musty smell aren’t problems a tenant should have to accept. Eventually, after I’d raised the problems several times, they offered me a different apartment. I agreed to move, but the next morning I was told it had already been booked because they hadn’t held it for me. That felt unfair and very unprofessional. The apartment and management left me deeply disappointed.

They kindly let us leave our bags at their office, about a 10-minute walk away. The apartment is near the city center and the Bolhao and Trindade metro stations, with good Wi-Fi that did disconnect now and then. We liked the little internal courtyard, though I didn’t find it especially private. The floorboards were the real nuisance during our stay, every step was loud and irritating.

We had a clean, spacious place in a good location, and it worked well for our three days in Porto. I’d recommend it. A few small things need attention: the double bed wasn’t two singles, the water was scalding hot, and the street entrance door wasn’t locked. We told the Oporto city view team, and hopiwill be addressed.

We spent a week in the three-bedroom apartment and would definitely come back. It was clean and roomy, with lots of closets, and they changed the towels midweek. Cleaning is available if you want it. There was a washing machine, clothesline, iron, toaster, complimentary water, and cleaning supplies, too. A couple of things weren’t great: the upstairs bedroom window wouldn’t open, the shower smelled awful, like sewage, and the living room sofa was tiny. Aside from those, everything was perfect, and we’d recommend the place.
