Clérigos Prime Suites by Porto City Hosts

I’d call it a 4.5 out of 5, but I rounded up. Apt. 1 itself was great: the stove, microwave oven, washing machine, coffee maker and kettle all worked, and the bed was comfortable. The AC was good too. Management got back to us quickly. It’s close to most Porto sights, food and convenience stores. There’s a bakery right below, so the whole place smells amazing. The street was fairly quiet compared with others. A few things were less convenient. The shower door doesn’t seal, so water gets out depending on how you stand; facing the wall or glass side helps. The windows look onto the street and other apartments, so close the curtains if you want privacy. The front door can take a firm shove to open, though usually it’s fine.

The shower was the problem: hot water kept running out, even on showers of around seven minutes, and water leaked onto the floor. The rest was very clean and well prepared, the location was great, and the staff were welcoming and helpful whenever we needed them.

A fabulous spot for a short city break. The rooms were very small, with hardly any room for luggage and just two coat hangers. The shower head was broken.

We felt deceived by the lack of clear information, even though the apartment itself was nice and well located. We booked through Agoda and paid the full amount. The site mentioned an €18 check-in fee, but didn’t disclose anything else. When we arrived, they wouldn’t give us the access code until we paid €50 for cleaning and a €400 security deposit. Neither amount had appeared anywhere during the booking.
