The apartment matches the pictures, the kitchen is well equipped, the shower gets hot, and the water pressure is fine. But the neighbourhood feels a bit dodgy and parking can be difficult. The floor in every apartment creaks loudly, and I woke up several times thinking someone was walking in our room, only to realize it was the neighbours. You hear the main road all night, whether you’re a light sleeper or not. My biggest worry is fire safety. The hose container on the staircase is empty, the tiny balconies face away from the street, there are no fire ladders, and the street gives no access to the back of the house. It seems there’d be no way to get rescued in an emergency, since firefighters couldn’t see, hear or reach you. The small, cramped houses reminded me of London, but without the charm or the extra roof rescue option. I’ve stayed in basic places all over the world and would never come back, even for half the price or if someone paid me. I don’t want to risk being trapped in a fire, especially with family.
