The bed was excellent, with lovely linens and pillows, and my room had plenty of space to share with another person. I also liked the big windows that opened like balcony doors, and the shower pressure was just right. The staff were kind, if a little quiet. I spent three nights here on my first Porto visit and am already thinking of staying here on future trips. It’s right among the sights, though a bit of a walk from a station with a direct airport connection. Aliados and Bolhao metro stations are about five to seven minutes away, just keep that in mind if you have kids or luggage. It’s not the Aliados location a few blocks away, but you may get a five-star feel from the rooms and other basics without paying that premium. I’d highly recommend it if you want to stay near the center.

The hotel is clean, comfortable, and pleasant, and the location is fantastic. The bathroom setup in the room could feel awkward if you’re traveling with a friend. Breakfast was only average, so we went to Bella Roma instead. It’s just a minute away, and we had a delicious meal there.

The location is good and the rooms are spacious, but several things made this a poor stay for me. The bathroom has no proper door separating it from the rest of the room, so there’s no privacy. There was some mold, and every few hours the room had an unpleasant sewage-like smell. I was also surprised by how unprofessional the reception and staff could be. I understand apprentices need experience, but having so many with little guidance was frustrating. At check-in the receptionist was too shy to explain things, another time they couldn’t understand our simple request for different pillows, and when our keycard stopped working, the receptionist was rude and seemed angry. Breakfast didn’t feel worth the price. Most of the food seemed low quality, the eggs and bacon were meant to be hot but were mostly cold, and the morning staff refilling the trays looked unmotivated. We ordered a cheese plate with cheese and jam for the room but got only cheese. The wine glasses at the bar were dirty two times out of three. On top of that, some strange guy stood outside the hotel shouting something every 30 seconds over several days. It was really annoying, and you’d think they’d try to deal with it.

The room was spacious, with a nice bathroom and two Juliet balconies, and it was cleaned very thoroughly every day. The location is fantastic for getting around the city and even visiting Gaia. I’d highly recommend this accommodation and would come back.
