Eurostars Porto Douro

Our room had a nice view of the river and city, with a small balcony. The hotel is spacious and has modern features and amenities, though it’s a bit of a maze to find your way around. The parking garage is quite small, and there’s nowhere out front for car pickups or drop-offs, so keep that in mind if you arrive by car. It’s a great hotel by the river, and I’d stay again.

The room was attractive, the interior was clean and beautiful, and the view of the Eiffel bridge from the bed was lovely. The “snacks” were decent too, but the service at the “snack bar” was very slow and unresponsive. It seemed much more like a restaurant, though they wouldn’t call it one. They had tables, a chef in a white hat, and a kitchen. I wondered if the name had something to do with taxes or licensing, but that was just a guess. They opened half an hour late, and the call device on the table didn’t get us help. I could clearly hear it vibrating in the kitchen when I pressed it, but the staff either didn’t hear it or ignored it. The meal took quite a while to arrive. We’d still have a good chance of coming back for a longer stay in Porto.

The main attractions take a bit of a hike to reach, but I didn’t mind. I made a habit of stopping for coffee at My Coffee Porto each morning on my walk up the hill into the city. I stayed for four nights a couple of weeks ago, and it was one of the best stays of my trip. The room was lovely, with an incredible view of the San Luis Bridge and Gaia. I’d hoped to have drinks on the terrace, but it was rainy and the bar was closed. I’ll definitely stay here again next time I’m in Porto.

The breakfast was very nice, with fruit, eggs, pastries, and everything else, and we loved the location and wonderful views. It was also very quiet, both in the street and inside, so we slept really well. But the room wasn’t properly cleaned when we arrived. On the second day, after we’d been out exploring all day, the cleaner knocked just as we got back. It felt like they’d waited for us to return so we’d turn down the cleaning and could relax. There were no bathrobes available on either day. The hotel was okay, but didn’t feel worth the price. It could be better.
