The rooms themselves are good and clean, but the outside was awful. People yelled day and night, and you could hear everything through the windows, even when they were shut. At night it didn’t feel safe, with fights, drug addicts, and strip clubs nearby. Other guests were fighting, drunk, and slamming doors at all hours, and management ignored requests. The place is also up a hill, so it’s not suitable if you can’t manage a hike. I wouldn’t stay again even for free.

The apartment is tiny for what it costs, and poor value overall. There are cheaper places in the area with the same standard. We simply didn’t have time to look elsewhere, which was our mistake. The bathroom is so cramped that its sink is out in the hallway by the apartment entrance. There are no hooks or shelves for towels or toiletries. The staff member who greeted us seemed annoyed that we were an hour late, though our flight had been delayed. At check-in she was arrogant and lectured us about the rental and payment, as if we were newcomers who needed setting straight. With all respect to the owner, that’s no way to treat guests from out of town. Selling a stay takes tact and sensitivity, and she lacked both. In my opinion, she should get customer service training.

A renovated, very clean apartment in a great location, just a two-minute walk from Torre dos Clérigos. It has all the necessary amenities.
