The location and view were both lovely, with nearby sights easy to explore and impressive scenery all around. But they didn't make up for how the stay went. The building hallway smelled unpleasant, and the air freshener used to cover it made things worse. The stairs had wide gaps between the steps, which seemed dangerous for young children. Inside, the apartment felt dated and poorly cared for. At that price, I expected more attention to detail and better quality. The worst part was the break-in. While we were out, someone forced the apartment door and took belongings worth €2,000. I know the landlord wasn't directly responsible for the burglary, but after 9 PM there was nobody to help us. We had to spend the night with the damaged door partly open, feeling unsafe. We later found out that the first-floor balcony window had likely been left open by the cleaning staff. We were on the second floor, and that open window gave someone access to the hallway through the first-floor apartment. From there, our relatively thin front door was the only barrier, and it was forced open. Someone finally got back to us at 10 AM the next morning and arranged repairs. The door was fixed later that afternoon. When we left the building together afterwards, we saw that the cleaning staff had left the balcony window open again. I suspect they ventilate so often because of the bad smell in the hallway. In my view, the landlord bears some responsibility because these careless actions made a break-in more likely. I'm not asking for a full refund, but a partial one seems fair, at least for the night we spent with a broken door and for the security lapse involving the cleaning staff. Since the incident, nobody has replied to my messages, and it feels like they simply don't care. I hope no other guest has to go through this.

The views over the Douro in the afternoon were brilliant, and you can see Vila Nova De Gaia with all its best-known Port companies from the small balconies. The accommodation is really well located, with lots going on nearby: restaurants, musicians, and plenty of activity. Most places seemed to wind down around 10 PM. The first night, an unknown loud droning noise outside went on until the early hours, but after that it was quiet. Our rooms on the second floor were reasonably well equipped, and there was plenty of entertainment gear, though we never switched any of it on. We preferred walking around and taking in the sights and sounds. The beds looked huge but were actually rather short, so we ended up sleeping diagonally. I'd stay here again in a flash :)

These apartments are right where you want to be on Porto's Ribeira. Just be aware that they're not especially spacious, and the staircase is very steep, so it won't suit anyone with mobility issues. At the reception center near the apartment, the hostess gave us a warm welcome and took time to point out places to visit. Her suggestions were good and made the trip better. Ask where to find fried octopus, it's so good!

The balcony view was excellent, and breakfast service was decent and arrived right on time. The location is perfect for Porto, and everything you'd need was provided. Parking information should come earlier, though. We spent 1,5 hours looking for a space, then got the details at check-in and had to move the car to a different lot that cost about 75€/day.

The apartment has what you need, though you'll have to shop for the basics yourself. Check the coffee machine before buying pods, as it takes its own brand. There's no shortage of restaurants nearby. The location is fabulous, handy for Ponte Luiz, and the view over the Douro lets you sit in the apartment and decide which Port House to visit.
