Holiday Inn Express Porto Boavista by IHG

The rooms felt a little cramped, but the hotel seemed fairly new and we had a great stay. Breakfast was included and offered a reasonably wide selection. It was also within walking distance of the metro and a Mercadona supermarket.

Our confirmed booking at Holiday Inn Express Porto - Boavista was cancelled without warning just hours before we were due to travel from Lisbon to Porto. We'd booked well ahead for a family trip, including a stay at Holiday Inn Lisbon, and got no email, call, or other notice. We only found out while on the way, leaving us scrambling for somewhere else in peak season with a young child and our luggage. The whole thing was stressful and unreliable. I wouldn't book here.

The breakfast was really good, and the hotel is close to the metro and not far from the city center. Our room was small but very comfortable, and the cleaning staff kept everything spotless. The reception and breakfast teams were also kind and helpful.

The reception team were genuinely lovely. They helped us book tickets, gave us travel tips, and made it easier to find our way around the city. The location was convenient too, about 5 to 10 minutes from the main city, which made sightseeing straightforward. We were three in a room, and once the sofa bed was set up there was barely room to walk. The room is small even for a business hotel, and there's no wardrobe, so we had to keep our things in our bags. A few bulbs were out as well. Staff couldn't replace them right away because they had no spares, but they offered us another room, which was thoughtful. Breakfast was just okay, with limited choice, and a couple of the breakfast staff came across as curt and unhelpful. We stayed two nights and found the experience decent overall, but with some clear drawbacks. It could suit a solo guest or a couple who value the location and front desk help. For a group or anyone needing space and storage, it may feel uncomfortable.
