I’m travelling all the way from Malaysia to Europe by train. Check out my YouTube, Lonely Railway Explorer, to find out more. Before booking, I’d read lots of negative reviews on Trip.com, but I knew they were nonsense. As a professional traveller, I can say this hotel is worth the money. The rate gets you a private bathroom and double bed, and they even provide a safe for guests. Cleanliness gets 9/10, and the location, right opposite the railway station and metro, gets 10/10. The family at the front desk were super kind. I’d give the hostel 9/10, though there’s no hairdryer and the bed sheet smelled. I think that might be because it gets no sunlight. I recommend eating at Churrasqueira da Estação de Campanhã, the restaurant next door. You definitely need to try the grilled food and rice, especially if you’re Asian, but it’s not halal.

The mattress was hard and there were no blinds, my only complaints. Still, I was very happy with the stay, and the price was quite reasonable. The hostel clerk was really nice, and everything was impeccably clean. The location in Porto was good, with a supermarket right across the street. There’s no elevator, which didn’t bother me but could be an issue for other guests.

Deborah made me feel welcome and got everything sorted out for me right away. The room was really well equipped, and there’s even a handy terrace for smokers like me. A very cosy place, and I’d recommend it.

For the price, I was surprised by how spacious, clean, and decent the room was. It only had the basics, so it suits a short stay if you don’t need much comfort. The hotel is close to Campanha train station and within reach of the football stadium. Getting to the airport by Metro takes about 40 minutes. It costs less than the local average, too.

The bed was really comfortable, and the staff were so kind. Getting to the city center or the airport was easy, too. My stay was just perfect.
