Hotel Carris Porto Ribeira

At Forno Velho, Fabricio looked after us with amazing care and attention to detail. The food was delicious. We had pork cheek and cod for our main dishes, both full of flavor, then chocolate mousse for dessert, which was delicious too. I'd happily return and highly recommend eating here. Great service and food, you won't be disappointed.

We had booking issues, but Mariana G. handled everything smoothly and did all she could to make us comfortable. She was incredibly kind and helpful. The hotel is right in the heart of Porto, an easy walk from the riverside and main attractions. There was some outside noise at night until around 1-2 AM, and better insulated windows would help. Still, it was a lovely stay, and I'd recommend it for the location and excellent service.

The hotel is clean and spacious, with little seating spots tucked around the building. The staff were friendly, helpful and accommodating, and the included breakfast each day was much better than we expected. Hotel Carris Ribeiro is ideally placed for the Douro River and Porto Shopping, within walking distance of both riverbanks. You can cross the two-level bridge on its lower level for an easy, beautiful and safe walk, or climb several flights to the upper level for breathtaking views. For location, comfort, cleanliness, food and hospitality, Hotel Carris is a perfect 5-star hotel.

The positives outweighed the drawbacks, and we'd probably stay again. We spent 3 nights here and found the room clean, organized and just what you'd expect from a solid city hotel. A few things caught us off guard: the windows couldn't be opened, which wasn't ideal when we wanted fresh air on a nice Porto day, and water in the room was €3 for a small bottle, which felt excessive for this level of hotel. The thing that bothered us most was arriving at reception to cigarette smoke coming in through the door. Staff were smoking right at the entrance, not the welcome you want after a day of travel. A few easy fixes would make a real difference.
