The food was great, though the breakfast team were struggling to keep up at a very busy time and could use more staff. The road-facing rooms were noisy, but the bed was comfortable. In Room 105, there were no bathroom hooks for towels or clothes. I also fell where the lounge carpet met a tiled walkway on a different level. I didn't see the drop, and ended up shaken and hurt in too many places. Someone gave me ice in a napkin, but nothing was recorded. See photos attached. I think furniture should block off that dangerous area.

The breakfast was fresh, with staff regularly replenishing fruit, yogurt, deli meats, cheese, eggs, bacon, beans, bread, pastries and cereal. It can get busy, though, and a few more staff would help. There are also plenty of restaurants and shops within a ten-minute walk, even if the tourist sights aren't in the best spot and the metro takes a bit of a walk. Ubers and Bolts are handy and inexpensive, about €4 to the main town. Our room was clean and had the basics. The bed felt a little small, maybe a small double. The bathroom had soap, shower caps and a hairdryer, and you can ask for extras. The shower pressure was great. The TV only has local channels, but you can cast Netflix or Prime. We were on the street side, so traffic and motorbikes were noisy. The room also got warm, and the air conditioning was tricky to use and didn't always stay on. The reception area looks a bit worn and dated and could use some renovation.

Getting around was easy by Uber, and the fares were very reasonable. Hotel Cristal was a little farther from Porto's bustle than we'd expected, but we'd definitely recommend it. The room was spacious and modern, and we enjoyed the food and breakfast. The staff were so friendly and went out of their way to make the stay work well with our two-year-old. Angela was especially lovely with him.

The lounge and roomy garden were lovely places to relax outside or have a cocktail, and I appreciated the mineral water left as a welcome gift. I'd never seen that before. The staff were attentive, my room was comfortable, and breakfast had a tasty range of choices. Thanks for the hospitality 😌🤝 I wasn't keen on the coffee, and there were no bathrobes or slippers in the room.
