I couldn’t get the heater to switch on during my two-night stay, so I froze, and there were no instructions. The room had a TV but no remote, which made it useless. The coffee machine was filthy, with burnt milk left inside. There’s a loft reached by a staircase set at a 90-degree angle. It felt more like a safety hazard than a proper staircase. How did that pass inspection?

The beds are really comfortable, and the rooms are big, with a cool, hip feel. The building’s decor is original too. The location in Porto is hard to beat.

We stayed three nights in April with my two kids, in a room with a terrace. It was a good temperature inside then, so we didn’t need the AC, though I suspect it might get hot in summer. The room is small but cozy, and fair for the price for a short stay. It was clean, the toilet and bed were clean, check-in and checkout were easy, and the WiFi was fast. You can connect the TV to Netflix, and it’s easy to walk to places around town. There are lots of restaurants nearby. The downside is the nighttime noise from all the pubs next door. It can go on until 1, 2, or 3 a.m., which is why we had to move to another hotel. Still, waking up to that lovely terrace and having coffee there was nice 😎

There are loads of great cafes and places to eat nearby, and the location works really well for exploring Porto with friends. The rooms are clean, spacious, secure, and good value, with everything you need, including AC. Inside, it matches the online photos; the outside could use a facelift. My only complaint about the room was that mine had no full-length mirror, just one above the bathroom sink. Getting up to the loft after a couple of sangrías is a 10/10 adventure. Highly recommend ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

The street noise is pretty bad, and I’ve stayed in better dorm rooms.
