The staff were the highlight, welcoming us with Port wine and taking time to mark points of interest on a map and share tourist tips tailored to us. The rooms were clean, and the amenities, including air conditioning, were appreciated. You can hear other guests, so the insulation could use some improvement. Still, a pleasant stay.

My reservation is for next week, but my flight arrives after reception closes. I’ve tried reaching the hotel by phone, email and WhatsApp to ask how to check in, and still haven’t heard back. If they don’t send the details before the cancellation period ends, I’ll have to make other plans. Please help?

The owner was really friendly and pointed out some nice places around town. We liked our four-day stay: modern, clean rooms, a nice bed, and the metro just 200 metres away. Prices were reasonable too. I’d recommend it to friends.

Mello was the person I’m referring to. We arrived at 4 pm and nobody greeted us. Another couple waiting to check in let us in, while a housekeeper who didn’t speak any English tried to help. After about 20 minutes, I presume a drunk owner turned up. For the next hour he kept repeating himself and smelled of alcohol. We eventually got a door code, but were sent into somebody else’s room, which we were allowed to enter. That was a serious invasion of privacy. When we were given the same room code and went into our own room, it stank. We’d booked a room with a balcony and didn’t get one. Nobody ever contacted us or apologised for the receptionist’s disgusting behaviour.
