Lunar Guest House

I wouldn’t recommend it. I spent one night in a room where cold air came in around the windows from every direction, and I could hear all sorts of street noise.

The room stayed cold even after I turned the heat up when I arrived, and it was still cold when I checked out the next morning. I could hear everything from reception through the thin door, and street noise came in too since my room faced the road. The location is a little out of the way, though not terrible. I’d try somewhere else next time.

The room itself was spacious, with a big bed, and looked nice. The staff were friendly, welcoming and helpful. But sound carried from everywhere: creaking floorboards when people walked, the desk phone ringing, and a nearby toilet flushing. I even heard someone throw up. I had to get up really early, so it wasn’t a great stay for me. Maybe the noise isn’t an issue in every room.

For such a cheap place, the room was really nice and large, with a very spacious bathroom and a balcony table where you can have wine. It’s in central Porto and good for the price. The service feels like a hostel. If you’re coming in winter, ask them to warm the room before you arrive, because they turn the heat off when it’s empty and it gets really cold.
