MyStay Porto Bolhão

We didn’t feel comfortable from the start, and the room’s condition was a big part of that. The walls were falling apart, the bathroom cabinets were badly damaged by humidity, and the only thing left in the bathroom was some leftover shampoo, with no soap or body wash. The kitchenette’s fridge wasn’t properly cleaned, and we spotted an expired ticket from the Bolhão market, dated July 2025 and expired in December 2025. We stayed in February 2026. The floors weren’t very clean, the bedside lamp was broken and fell when we touched it, and there were no curtains. Our room faced the shared garden, so people could look in unless we closed the shutters. The garden was overgrown and unkempt, even in winter. The service was poor as well. They charged 12 euros for late checkout at 12 pm and 16 euros for checkout at 2 pm, and kept filling my mailbox with paid add-ons. I tried contacting staff from two different numbers to confirm my late checkout, but only got a reply through Booking. They said they didn’t have access to that information, which felt unprofessional. Soon after checkout, they messaged me asking for a 10/10 rating on Booking. From the booking listing, the price seemed good and the room looked comfortable enough for a one-night retreat. We only used the kitchenette to make the complimentary tea, which was okay, as expected. Don’t be taken in by the price and location. There are other places in Porto at a similar price with much better conditions.

The room was very cold, and it took a long time for the AC or heating to warm it up. The WiFi was slow but worked. We arrived around 8 pm, and the entrance codes worked fine. Bolhao Metro station is within walking distance, and it’s 30 minutes and €2.30 from the airport.

I realized just three minutes after choosing the wrong date, and they were fair about it and gave me a full refund. MyStay clearly has standards and cares about the customer experience. Five stars, thank you very much.

The check-in was extremely unprofessional. We hadn’t been sent the building access codes, and luckily a cleaning lady helped us get in touch with them. They sent us the code and details in a lousy screenshot. When we messaged them on WhatsApp about it, they ignored us. The room had a broken side table and a bunch of holes and marks on the walls. The pool is in an entirely different building and was completely unusable, green, opaque, and dirty. The garden was nasty, with broken wood planks along the walkway. This place isn’t worth any budget at all.
