Owls Hostel Ribeiro

We were three girls and had booked a four-bed room, paying extra for the fourth bed so we could have the room to ourselves. But on arrival they said it had already been given to someone else, even though our reservation was confirmed. They offered either to put us with a man or split us between two rooms with other girls, neither of which we wanted. Staff were unprofessional and unhelpful, and wouldn't find a proper solution or refund the extra bed. The place smelled bad and felt uncomfortable. Thankfully, Booking.com canceled the booking and refunded us. We moved to a much better, more welcoming hostel. Definitely don't recommend this one.

The bathrooms were quite clean, and the worker who welcomed us and showed us the room was extremely nice. The mattresses were very hard, though, and the pillows felt like rocks. You can't lock the dorm room doors, and the lockers under the beds didn't feel safe at all. Our room faced the street, where the traffic was very loud even with the window closed.

The staff were nice, and the price was very low. Bathrooms were decent, though the kitchen and seating space are small. The six-bed mixed dorm was really cramped and noisy, and the bed locks didn’t feel secure. The four- and ten-bed rooms looked better.

Had a good stay. The hostel was clean and tidy, and the staff were helpful and cooperative.
