The hotel was a good option for the price, and I enjoyed my upgraded premium room with a terrace, even though the cold meant I could hardly use it. The neighborhood felt a bit sad and didn’t have anything interesting to see, but the river is only about 2 km away, so the nicer spots aren’t too far. It’s also roughly 500 meters on foot to Marques Metro Station, with a connection to Trindade and then the airport. The hotel is somewhat far from Porto’s historic center, so it suits you if you don’t mind staying outside the touristy part of the city. Staff were nice and helpful. When I asked for a heater, they brought an efficient oil radiator, which was very welcome because Porto gets quite cold in winter. Breakfast was satisfactory, though I would’ve liked an omelette or something made to order. The price was fair, but the Wyndham points I received seemed odd. The hotel tried to find out what went wrong but couldn’t, so I’m contacting Wyndham about the missing points.
The breakfast was the same every day, with lots of items that didn’t seem fresh, too many sweet things, and very few proper breakfast choices. It felt like little thought had gone into it. Other people eating there seemed bored by it too. I also had a bad acne breakout and realized the sheets and pillowcases might have caused it. I’d read reviews about them on booking.com as well. There were several problems in the room. Water leaked badly through the window even though it was shut, and the room stayed very cold despite the heating being set to warm. The room cleaning wasn’t good either, and the washroom wasn’t properly cleaned after we asked. The employees seemed to show no care, and the receptionist at checkout wasn’t open to feedback. I’m addressing this to the managers, Pedro Salazar & Ivo Diaz. The worst part was the minibar charge. The menu card said 2 waters cost 2.5 € and 2 cokes cost 3.5 €, but at checkout we were charged 2.5 and 3.5 for each individual item. It’s not about the money, but the pricing should’ve been made clear. Overall, a very poor experience.
The staff were friendly, and getting into the city center was easy by foot or public transport. Our room was spacious and clean, with nice hot water for a bath or shower. Breakfast was adequate but could use more variety. The toaster was very dated, and it was easy for your toast to fall on the floor when you pulled it out. A nice, clean budget hotel.
When my luggage got lost in transit, the staff at Porto Central Hotel patiently spent a lot of time helping me call airports and hotels. They were incredibly helpful and generous. The stay was lovely too, with clean, comfortable rooms and delicious breakfast. Thanks again.
I’m disabled and needed to reserve a parking space, but the person I spoke with was rude and arrogant. He said they had so many disabled guests that they couldn’t accommodate me. I’m officially disabled and have a European disabled sign. I’ve stayed at many hotels, and they’ve always made arrangements for me. I don’t stay at hotels that discriminate against disabled people, so avoid this place, especially if you’re disabled.
