We had a bad experience with the owners. They kept messaging us to pay a tax, but didn't provide a bill. They told us to leave the keys in the room and head home, then continued messaging about the payment and told us to sort it out with booking.
The room was in an apartment split into three rooms, with no reception desk. If something went wrong at night, there was nowhere to turn. We didn't feel safe when a group outside were smoking joints. Breakfast was 140 meters away, which was unpleasant in the rain, so we decided to move to another hotel. When we asked whether to return the keys or have someone collect them, they said collection was no problem. We paid for the room, then were charged another €150 just for picking up the keys. It felt like a complete rip-off, almost despicable.
Miguel and Anabela were kind and helpful hosts. My room was quiet, clean, and very nice, and the location was central and handy for long walks around the city. For the price, I couldn't have asked for more.
Everything I needed was in the apartment, including a shared kitchen with all the necessary equipment. It was also very well located.
They tried to charge us the city tax without giving us a receipt, so it felt like a scam. Check-in was listed as starting at 2:00 PM, but we had to wait until 4:00 PM.
