The heating was fine with the extra heater they provide, though they advise you not to leave it on overnight. If you’re there in winter, bring warm clothes. The rooms and furniture are quite old, and I felt it could have been cleaner. It’s a pleasant enough place, not fancy, but fine for a couple of nights. I still had a nice experience.

The host was very kind, and we could leave our backpacks there in the morning before check-in at 3 pm, which worked out perfectly. The hostel is well located, just a few minutes from the centre.

We showed up at the agreed time, but they wouldn’t let us in, and no self check-in instructions had been sent. It was pouring, we had no local internet, and we couldn’t stay outside indefinitely, so we had to find Wi-Fi and book somewhere else at the last minute. Every other place we’ve stayed through Booking had been fine, and places using self check-in have sent the instructions 24 hours ahead. That’s the sensible thing to do, instead of sending them hours after the agreed arrival time. They had no trouble taking our money, but they’ve ignored every attempt to get the refund we’re rightfully owed. Take responsibility for failing to do what you agreed to.

Joao was really kind and gave us good recommendations, and the staff were polite. Our room and bathroom were very clean. The street was peaceful at night, even though the city centre was very close, and supermarkets and malls were a five-minute walk away. We only stayed one night, but I don’t think you can find a better deal in Porto. We’ll stay longer next time. Thank you.
