Select Porto Hotel

The room was spotless, and from the 7th floor we had a great view. Breakfast was lovely, with plenty of pastries to choose from. We only stayed a short time, but had a great visit. The staff were amazing, especially Lucas, who was kind and helpful.

The bed was old, the mattress worn out, and the room was dirty with scratches everywhere. Mold covered the bathroom, and most things were rusty. The pictures looked nothing like the neglected, very low-quality room we got at Select Porto Suites. Be careful about what you book. I wonder whether the hotel manager has ever been in there. Stay away.

Breakfast was acceptable, but nothing special. The people sleeping on both sides of the hotel entrance were actually the least of our concerns, and didn't bother anyone. We spent five nights at Rooms Select Porto, and were very disappointed by the cleanliness and service. Our room was only partly cleaned, and the floor wasn't wiped once during the stay. The hall carpets were extremely dirty, and the window overlooking a beautiful park looked as if it hadn't been cleaned in over a year. While I waited about 30 minutes at reception to report problems, I heard other guests complaining about cleanliness and missing items in their rooms. The TV never worked. I reported it, but nobody came to check all day. A receptionist came in the evening, couldn't figure it out, and I eventually discovered the LAN cable wasn't even plugged into the TV. One evening the air conditioning and heating system switched to cooling mode, even though it was around 10°C at night in Porto. The heating then failed for the last three nights. I reported it several times at reception, but nothing was done. In our opinion, the hotel doesn't deserve so many stars.

Lucas and the front desk team gave us such a warm welcome. Everyone was attentive and kind, and we felt at home. The bed was really comfortable, and we slept well during our few days there. The room was good overall, though its walls were badly banged up, maybe from people's luggage. We booked early in the week and got a great deal. It's an easy walk through a neighborhood with real, cool shops and restaurants, and there's a Pingo Doce and lots of other amenities close by. For parking, the hotel has an option for 15€/day that's open 24 hours, or there's a spot next door for 12€/day that isn't open around the clock but worked fine.
