Sport Hostel in Porto

Being cheap and right in the city center were the only real advantages. The lift was out of service for our entire stay, and it was hard to reach staff. This definitely isn’t a 24h counter. Our room had no clothes tree or hanger, and no trash can. The ladders to the upper beds were very old, most were broken, and using them felt dangerous. One bed was unsteady and in poor condition. Wi-fi was also very poor on the upper floors. At first the room seemed clean, but later we found insects in the beds. I was bitten a lottt, and I still have a lottttt of scars on my hands and legs.

A really handy budget stop in Porto. The beds were good, Wi-Fi was free, and there was luggage storage if needed, plus laundry and printing. The woman at the desk was super friendly, and there’s a nice breakfast spot next door.

Several months after my stay, the hostel charged €112,99 without authorization. They say they’ll refund it, but if the money doesn’t come back soon, I’ll have to take it to the police. I’ve seen other reviews describing the same thing for the same amount, which feels highly suspicious. Be very wary about staying here.

They cancelled my room a week before I was due to arrive, and I still haven’t been paid back. I’ve emailed for more than three months without getting any reply. That’s 90 euros they’ve taken from me. Don’t book at Sport Hostel if you don’t want to risk losing your money.
