Spot Family Apartments

It's a little far from the centre, but the place is spacious and nice. There's a market and a big mart right across from it, and the receptionist kindly explained everything. I'd come back here on my next trip to Porto.

The staff were always courteous and willing to help, and the apartment had enough equipment for a short stay. Cleaning was every two days, with the sheets and towels changed, though the floor didn't seem to get properly mopped. The biggest practical issue was the lack of a washing machine, especially for anyone travelling with children. It's well placed for nearby amenities and about a 30-minute walk downhill to the river, but remember the uphill walk back is demanding. Unit 32 also had quite poor lighting. Using the oven often tripped the circuit breaker, which cut off the air conditioning and seemed like a possible overload. When we arrived, there was a strong cooking smell. We asked for a professional to deal with it and left the windows open for several hours. In the mornings, the hot water tended to run out.

The room was spotless and I was very happy with both it and the service. A Nespresso maker in the room would have made the stay even better.

Staff were very friendly and helpful, and the WiFi was very good. I booked a one bedroom apartment with a balcony. It was a great size, clean, and had all the kitchen equipment needed to cook a small meal or breakfast. The Mercado, metro stations, cafes, restaurants, and grocery stores are all a short walk away. The old town and river are about a 20-minute walk. I'd definitely choose it again if I visit Porto.
