The location worked well for us, close enough to get into the city but not right in the tourist center. We stayed in the ground-floor apartment, which was roomy, clean, and pleasantly cool. It also had a calm outdoor seating area, nice to come back to after a day out. Maria was a gracious host and suggested places to visit and local food to try. We’d suggest better ventilation, though, to clear the slight damp smell during humid months.

The breakfast was good, and the rooms have been beautifully renovated. There’s a lovely atmosphere, with a nice patio and a rooftop patio offering a beautiful city view.

The layout gives this clean, cozy apartment a different feel from other places. It’s comfortable for three people, and the city center, restaurants, and bars are nearby, about a 10-minute walk.

It’s 2:30AM on Monday and I still can’t sleep because of the insanely loud music from the bar right beside the guesthouse. I could understand it on a Saturday night, but it’s not. I can’t believe no one mentioned this in the comments. You can’t rent a hotel like this and expect to sleep. If I spoke Portuguese, I’d have called the police already. Is it even legal to run a music bar in this area? I have no idea when this crazy music will stop!!!
