The Editory Garden Porto Hotel

The room had a small problem, but reception dealt with it right away and offered to move us. They even said they'd transfer our things while we were out so our day in Porto wouldn't be interrupted. Everything was set up when we got back that evening. That kind of thoughtful service really stayed with us. The staff also asked about our day and seemed honestly interested, which made the welcome feel personal. We were offered Pastéis de Nata at check-in and shown to our room. Over three nights, we found the hotel calm, the room clean and comfortable, and the shower pressure great. We enjoyed the welcome drink later that evening too. A relaxing, well-run place, and we'd return.

Sewage odor filled our room and seemed to be throughout the hotel for our whole stay. At first the receptionist blamed the lawn, which felt like a quick, rehearsed lie. When I challenged him later, he said the pipes were in the same spot as the air conditioning, and that we'd have to put up with the smell whichever room we moved to. When we complained, we were basically told there was nothing to be done. It's unhygienic and concerning from a health and safety standpoint, and there was mold in the shower too. I'd rather have stayed anywhere else. I wouldn't come back even if they paid me.

Friendly staff and a clean, pleasant hotel. Manuel Silva was especially courteous. There are several supermarkets nearby and the main shopping streets are an easy walk away. If I return to Porto, I'd choose this hotel again.

We were here in January and found the rooms clean, a good size, and fitted with a brilliant bathroom. It's also a handy place to set off on foot around the city. The staff were genuinely lovely. Great hotel.
