Trindade Apartment

The host was quick to respond and helpful, and check-in was easy. The new apartment was clean and comfortable, with a kitchen, and it's close to the metro. There isn't a washing machine, so we used the coin laundry right across from the apartment.

We felt at home here and were really excited to stay. We'd been in three different places, so we know what we're talking about. The apartment was brand new and clean, with a huge comfortable bed and clearly white shirts. Communication was great. The terrace looks onto a small green area, and it was really quiet despite being in the city centre. The metro is a minute away and goes to the airport without transfers. The Bacalhao area is very close, and everything else we needed was an easy walk away. We had what we needed to make breakfast and even dinner. Highly recommend, and we'll definitely come back. We were told this wasn't a five-star hotel when we politely complained, and accused of lying. Cleanliness is a basic expectation to me, not five-star luxury. The photos were nowhere close to reality, and I deeply regret staying. Even one star feels too generous. Everything was dirty and moldy, including the cutlery. There were food stains on the light switch and sockets, and the sheets hadn't been changed. The wash basin was broken and moldy, and the toilet seat was broken too.

We spent four nights in apartment 2A. It was a five-minute walk to Trindade metro station and about 20 minutes on foot to the city centre, but there is no disabled access. Restaurants including Wilsons and Monteen are just below, with lots more nearby. A supermarket is three minutes away on foot, and a small grocery shop is directly opposite. The apartment was surprisingly spacious, and the sofa and large bed were comfortable. The pillows were softer than we like, and it would've been nice to have extra pillowcases for the spare ones. The kitchen had plenty to cook with: microwave, electric hob, oven, kettle, Nespresso coffee machine, cutlery, fridge, pans, bowls and plates. A table seats two, and the balcony, which only 2A and 2 B have, was just right for a cup of tea in the morning or during the day. The bathroom was clean, though the shower was average. They'd supplied generous amounts of toiletries, enough shampoo and shower gel for two people for at least a week.
