TURIM Oporto Hotel

The one real letdown was the coffee at breakfast. There was just one option, and it seemed to be instant coffee with a taste like dissolved paper and a faint coffee smell. It reminded me exactly of communist-era instant coffee from the 1980s. Lots of other people complained about it too. Breakfast could also use more variety. The hotel itself was cozy, with nice rooms and very friendly, helpful staff. It mostly lived up to what we expected. It sits at the edge of the city center and is easy to reach by metro, though the area is quite noisy.

I wasn’t staying at the hotel, just stopped in to use the restroom. Jay was so kind and friendly that he marked up a map with a thorough guide to Porto and gave it to us. When he heard we were going to Lisbon too, he also shared places to see and some tips. His help made our time in Portugal better, and I’m really grateful.

After a disappointing stay at another place in Porto, we switched to Turim Porto Hotel and were glad we did. Jay and the rest of the staff gave us a warm welcome, and check-in was quick and easy. The room was spotless, very spacious, and well kept, with adjustable lights and a nice view of the City Hall. Breakfast was a highlight, with plenty of dishes presented with care and good quality. The lobby is stylish, too. I’ve traveled a lot, and Turim, a reliable Portuguese hotel chain, left me with a really positive impression of Portugal. I’d highly recommend this hotel.

There’s no pool or gym, but the hotel does have a restaurant serving a breakfast buffet for about 15€ per person. Our large, clean room had a TV, mini fridge, kettle, free water, and a pull-out sofa bed that we used. The staff were very friendly, and the room cleaning staff were especially helpful. The rooms and location were both very good, and the place had a luxurious feel. We thought it was awesome.
