Turista da Trindade

I spent four nights here on a solo trip last September and only just realised I hadn’t left a review. The place was very clean, I felt safe, and there was plenty to do within walking distance. My room was lovely, with a comfortable bed, a quiet atmosphere, and a large, luxurious shower. There’s no food or drink available, and I would’ve appreciated a mini fridge, but breakfast was included at a café just down the street. Entry uses separate codes for the main door and your room instead of keys. Customer service was easy to reach on WhatsApp, and both check-in and check-out were simple. I’d stay again if I return to Porto.

Inside, the building feels quite grand, even though the outside looks plain. I was a little disappointed when I first saw it, but that changed once we stepped in. Our room was light and airy, with high ceilings painted white and pastel green. It’s listed as a double, though it’s really two single beds pushed together. The bathroom was nice, with a thunder shower after a day of exploring, but no bath. There’s no lift, which I probably should’ve mentioned sooner. The hotel is secure and pretty basic, so don’t expect luxury. Porto is hilly, like San Francisco: it’s a 30-minute walk down to the river and about 40 minutes back up. There are plenty of electric scooters and bikes, and public transport is good and cheap, with a stop right outside. I loved it, and Sue did too. If you’re on a budget, you will as well.

Good value for an apartment stay. It was clean and comfortable, in a handy location, with a good continental breakfast and great communication throughout.

There’s a lot to like about the location, the excellent cleanliness of both the hotel and rooms, and the quick response to online reservations. But the room has neither a fridge nor a closet. On the second day it was cleaned, yet the toilet liquid container was left empty. The internet was very slow, and I had to log in again every time the screen shut down. If you really need internet access, I wouldn’t choose this hotel. The photos show the issues I mentioned. Noise was another problem: footsteps carry through the wooden floors in the rooms and hallways, disturbing the night and morning, and with so little sound insulation, you can also hear people talking and interacting in neighboring rooms.
