It’s a beautiful hotel with comfortable rooms. They kindly let me store my bicycle in a back room. Breakfast was fine, though a little disappointing, with no hot food. Maybe there are more options in peak season; the hotel seemed nearly empty during my visit.

I came here by chance and it turned out even better than I could have imagined. The bar has a wide selection, and the food was tasty, with plenty of Portuguese dishes, including some from the surrounding area. The bartender was also our waiter, and his politeness, friendliness and willingness to help made the stay even better. He gave us wonderful service. Breakfast was included and amazing, and the place focuses on locally produced food.

Amoras makes a lovely escape from busy Lisboa, just a couple of hours away by car. The lodging blends a country feel with newer style, and the restaurant serves authentic food made with local ingredients.

My stay at the hotel was a bad experience. I found my personal computer broken, and people doubted me, asking if I was trying to use the situation to get it repaired or get a new one. The owner didn’t want me to write in the Complaint book. He said that if I wanted to take things in that direction by making a complaint, I should call the police. Most of the staff weren’t welcoming, though two or three were really nice. At breakfast I felt everyone was watching me, as if they wanted to control what I ate. Sometimes, by 9:30 or 10:00, they weren’t putting out more breakfast food, leaving only what was left from earlier because they said they didn’t want it to spoil. The food also wasn’t the same as what’s shown on the website. The internet, when there was a connection at all, didn’t work on any of the days I was there. The Wi-Fi was really bad.
