The promenade was a really nice walk, and we followed it from Vilamoura, about 10 or 15 minutes on foot. This area felt more Portuguese and less commercialised to me. We stopped for a lovely lunch near the beach, where the staff were friendly and very helpful.

Love, love the beach ⛱ It's hard to beat getting some sunshine outside. Even 15 minutes a day is enough, though you can stay out as long as you like. Take a moment to feel the sun on your skin, breathe in slowly, then let it out. So relaxing!

The fish and fruit markets were interesting. We came in March, when it was clearly out of season and most places were shut. It was only a few degrees warmer than the UK, so I'd return in a warmer season.

Really relaxing, with a fabulous beach and the promenade, shops and toilets right behind it. For 10 euros, we had two sun loungers and a big square straw parasol for the whole day, handy when the heat gets too much.

The golden sand is great, but there aren't many spots to lay your towel without paying for a lounger. Commercial loungers fill large parts of the beach, and it gets very busy.
