Alojamento Local Mareta

We were on a weekend bicycle tour for a family birthday, and the hosts immediately understood when we called ahead about secure bike parking. They gave us a ground-floor apartment with large rooms and a rear exit, and everyone had a real bed, no sofa beds. The hot shower was a real requirement after cycling. Out back, a door led to a lovely garden just before the beach, with a stunning view. The square out front has all kinds of lovely food spots. Our favorite was the Laundry Lounge, a laundromat, cafe, and restaurant with great vegetarian food. They serve meat too, but we can’t comment on that. Great stay, and really nice people running the place.

It was a bit confusing trying to find the right place to review. Google calls it Alojamento Local Mareta, while Mareta View Boutique B&B appears at a different location there. Still, I had a perfect stay at Mareta View, though it was only one night while passing through on the Fishermans Trail. I wish I could’ve stayed longer to relax in the lounge and garden and take my time over the lovely breakfast in its beautiful setting. My room’s street view was the only thing that didn’t rate five stars, but I didn’t come for the view :). The bed was huge and comfortable, and the shower was the best I’ve used in years, though a little shelf inside would’ve been nice. They kindly let me access the breakfast buffet earlier than usual because I had an early start. Thank you.

We spent a couple of days here with friends in November and enjoyed every minute in the sunny garden. From our ground-floor terrace, the ocean views were wonderful, and the sunrise was magical if the sunblinds were left up. We bought fresh fish and other seafood at the local market and cooked it on the BBQ in front of the terrace. The apartment’s kitchen was fully equipped, with cutlery, a wine opener, and even salt and olive oil, probably left by previous guests. It isn’t a luxury place, but for people like us it had everything we needed for a short, very enjoyable stay. We’ll definitely come back soon. Thank you, Ricardo!

We’ve come back to stay here every time we’ve visited Sagres, and we’ll happily return again. The staff are so friendly, and the rooms have everything you need for a short stay. We also liked using the beach umbrellas and clothes drying rack.
