The setting made a great base for exploring the Douro: it’s on the edge of a lovely little village with a National monument, but the place isn’t touristy. Inside, the house is beautifully decorated and equipped, and the showers are great. The owner and his friend made us feel very welcome, offered useful tips on what to see and where to buy bread and groceries, and even left us wine and apples.

With views of Quinta da Cerca and the Cistercian Mosteiro de Salzedas, this restored village wine house has plenty of character. It has three bedrooms, four bathrooms, a kitchen and a living room. The decor is lovely and it’s fully equipped. Definitely worth trying.

The host was so friendly and cheerful, and gave us tips on places to visit. The space itself is comfortable and inviting for a relaxing stay, in a good location with modern, tasteful decor. Two lovely paintings stood out to me, showing the original house and how it sits in its surroundings. I highly recommend it.
