PortoBay Serra Golf

The staff really made the stay. They were patient with all our questions and requests, and so thoughtful and polite, even with our large group to look after. Our room was quiet and cozy, the bed was comfortable, and the shower stayed at a perfect temperature. A pleasant visit, and I'd recommend it.

The pool and handy guest parking were real pluses, especially since parking has been a hassle at other hotels. The location worked well for exploring this part of the island, though it isn't the best spot overall. The place has a lovely atmosphere, but it's quite old, even if they do try to look after it. The big problem was the smell in the rooms. We aired them out again and again, but it wouldn't go away. Breakfast was just basic, enough to keep you from leaving hungry, nothing special.

The restaurant and diner were quite good, and the hotel and room have a stylish look. The buffet breakfast was pretty average. We could hear sounds from the room next door clearly because the walls are thin. The reception staff were unfriendly. In four days, not one of the staff acknowledged us at all, which was a first for us.

The hotel is getting old and hasn't been kept up very well. During our stay, renovation work meant drilling right outside our door from 9:30, and water damage downstairs made one of the common rooms unusable after the first day. They did make a gesture about that. Still, the staff were rude, and the experience as a whole fell well short of the standard.
