There are some steps to climb, but the view makes it worthwhile. It’s a beautiful apartment on a slope, with a spectacular garden.

Maria made a real effort to bridge the language gap with her little bit of English, and she was hospitable and full of suggestions. She radiates positive energy. There are several trails a short distance from the villa, and the rooms are all different, which gives each stay its own character. It’s a good base if you’re in the area. The room was spacious and simply furnished, with what we needed: strong, working Wi-Fi, a fairly comfortable bed, small fridge, kettle, cups, and glasses. There’s no air conditioning, but the hillside made evenings comfortable. We had a small terrace for breakfast and stargazing, and a spacious bathroom with a shower, toilet, and bidet, which is a must for us Italians. Keep the access in mind if you have heavy luggage or difficulty walking. This is part of Portugal’s rural hospitality tradition, so don’t expect the Four Seasons. GPS found it easily, and it’s 30-40 minutes from the coast, but the steep path is hard to manage. There’s no parking, so you have to leave the car on a road bend that doesn’t feel particularly safe, and you need a car to reach this area.

I wouldn’t stay here again, especially for a work trip rather than a holiday. Getting the luggage to the house was exhausting because it’s on a mountainside and only accessible on foot. The location was inconvenient, and the house had no refrigerator or air conditioning, no window protection, and ants and all kinds of insects. The bathroom didn’t work properly, and water leaked out of the house after a shower.

Maria, the owner, is so friendly and nice, and she gives helpful tips. The place is right in a beautiful garden, with the sea nearby enough to reach quickly and fantastic mountain hikes to enjoy. Simply wonderful and unique.

It’s lovely to look up at the stars at night, with mountains and nature close by and the sea in the distance. The house is a beautiful refuge surrounded by flowers and greenery. The warmth of Portugal feels so distinctive and welcoming, and the people here are lovely.
