Casa Do Engenho

The location suited us because it's quiet and secluded, and the owner and staff were welcoming, friendly, and helpful. Breakfast was fair. Our room had no working heat, so it got very cold overnight. The blankets weren't enough, and there were no extras in the room. We arrived late after dinner and didn't know who to ask. The bathroom was awkward and uncomfortable, and the accessible shower needs work because it's difficult to use.

The owner was so friendly and always went out of her way to make sure I was happy, and the staff were super helpful. It's a peaceful place, and I slept like a log. I also loved how spacious, modern, and clean everything was. I stayed four days, for about what I'd pay for a similar-length stay at a basic Travelodge or Premiere Inn in the U.K., so it was fantastic value. My friends were getting married at Quinta da Costa, just a 20-minute walk away, which is why I booked here. Breakfast was continental style, with delicious coffee, and a great way to start each morning. I didn't swim, but enjoyed sunbathing beside the pool. You get your own key, so you can come and go whenever, and there's plenty of parking. Google Maps brings you to the front door, but to get into the compound, go left past the entrance it points out. The gate is the second one on the left, along a short driveway to the property. I can highly recommend staying here.

If you're looking to unwind somewhere quiet, this is the place. Breakfast was great and more than enough.

A lovely, peaceful place in the middle of nature, perfect for relaxing. The host was very friendly and helpful, and breakfast was really good and complete.
