Hostel da Praça

We were there for the medieval festival, and the location was perfect. The rooms are simple and small, but the bed was comfortable. There’s a bar on the first floor with loud music until 2am, though the sound insulation was decent enough for sleeping.

I lost a lot of sleep to the church next door. Its bell rang every 15 minutes from around 6am until well past midnight. Even so, I’d still recommend the hostel for a short stay, and the service was great. My three-person private room had a kitchenette and its own bathroom. Towels were provided and changed daily, and the room was cleaned and tidied each day too. It felt comfortable and worth the price, with a luxurious-feeling bathroom and a kitchenette that worked well for basic meals. The hostel felt more like a luxurious hotel.

The service was terrible. I asked for a refund because we’d made a mistake with the reservation, but he refused. He never answered our calls, only picking up when I rang from a local phone number, and he was very unkind and rude on the phone. He said we had already paid, so he wouldn’t refund us. I understand his reaction now: he only wants our money, not customers. It’s also far from the portugal of santiago way, so pilgrims, I strongly suggest you do not book here.

In April 2022, it was a good place to stay, and a bed in a six-bed room cost only 6 Euros. It was still relatively new, though I noticed the first small signs of decay. Vila da Feira train station is 1.2 km away, reachable from the camino.
