ibis Porto Sul Europarque

It was peaceful, well away from the city's bustle and medieval fair, but still close enough to get there. The staff were very friendly and the pool was a nice bonus. My room was comfortable and clean, though it clearly needs a substantial renovation. Overall, I had a very positive stay.

The ants everywhere and the smelly room made this a horrible stay. The Ibis sign should come down, because the standard has nothing to do with Ibis. Reception woke me at 4 in the morning, and there was no apology or refund. The employees were arrogant and didn't speak English. I will never return and can only advise people to stay away.

The hotel was a long way from the city, but Ricardo made check-in a great experience. Raquel and Rafael were warm and gave such excellent customer service that the stay became memorable.

The pool was the reason I booked, hoping for some sunshine, but even the loungers look worn out. It's not a huge pool, though it does have a fence to keep children out. Around the rest of the hotel, the place feels grubby and cheap. The entrance lobby and reception look seedy, and there are obvious marks on the corridor walls. My room's decor was dirty-looking, and the furniture has seen better days. The dark colors at the entrance, in the hallways and on the room doors make the atmosphere feel oppressive. It needs a more modern remodel. There are some positives: the TV is more than adequate for the room, the bed linen looks clean, and there was plenty of hot water. There's a dining area on the ground floor, but breakfast costs 7 euros extra, which I thought should have been included. I wouldn't recommend this hotel.
