Hotel Quinta Do Furao

The setting is remarkable, right on a dramatic cliff where sea meets rock, with vineyards all around giving it a peaceful countryside feel. The unusual pool winds along the vineyard paths and was such a memorable treat. Our rooms were luxurious, with spectacular views, and breakfast was perfect: lots of choice, fresh and delicious food, beautifully presented. The staff were kind and very professional. We had a double booking to sort out, and they patiently guided us through canceling the duplicate. That level of care was commendable. I could keep praising the place, they deserve it. A heartfelt recommendation!

We really enjoyed our stay at Quinta do Furão, especially the service. The staff were welcoming, friendly, and helpful the whole time, and breakfast was fresh, tasty, well prepared, and varied. The indoor pool area was the main letdown. The water temperature was fine, but the room itself was far too cold. With it around 15°C outside and the doors open to the outdoors, it was uncomfortable, particularly for children. On a rainy day, the pool should be a big draw for kids staying at the hotel, so that was disappointing. Better heating and insulation would make the area much more usable in cold or wet weather.

We went in mid-September and found the temperature comfortable. We didn’t miss air conditioning, and actually enjoyed the fresh air coming through the open windows, with an ocean breeze at night. Our junior suite had a view we’d highly recommend. The hotel is spacious and beautiful, with lovely wooden floors and ceilings. Breakfast was the best we had on the island, and the restaurant was great too. We spent mornings hiking and touring, then relaxed by the pool in the afternoons. We expected a lot and the hotel surpassed it. A fantastic stay.

We held our wedding here, with welcome drinks at the hotel, and it was the best time of our lives. The grounds are immaculate, the hotel is stunning, and our guests felt completely at ease staying there. The breakfast station was one of the best I’ve experienced, with so many healthy options. Staff went above and beyond to make everything smooth and easy. I wish I could give it ten stars. We can’t wait to return. They also offer some free classes, like bread making, where you learn to bake a loaf and they bring it to you afterward. Thank you for everything, Quinta ❤️❤️
