Unisco at Cidnay Hotel remains one of our favourite restaurants. The new menu makes clear why: it brings Portuguese flavours to the table with respect for tradition and a confident modern touch, for adventurous diners who like to go beyond the usual. The dishes were beautifully made and complex, with balanced flavours, and the wine pairings were precise and lifted the meal. The Azores (really?!) Cural Atlantis stood out. As always, the team was impressively flexible about my wife’s coeliac requirements. GM Cidália Mota and Executive Chef Ricardo Gomes made the evening feel genuinely warm and memorable.

Breakfast had plenty to suit different tastes, and the buffet came with a nice view of the mountain side. The hotel is beautiful, with friendly, attentive and helpful staff. My room was quiet, clean, spacious and modern, with a small balcony. I appreciated having several pillows to choose from, plus the handy range of charging cables at the night stand. I’d definitely return.

The town is adorable and close enough to walk to from the hotel. The bar area has beautiful views, and the rooms are extremely comfortable and clean. Staff were friendly and very helpful.

The unusual layout makes sense once you realize the hotel sits on a hill: the entrance is at the top, while the bedrooms and other areas are on lower levels, which gives you views across the hills. I found the place outstanding and modern, and the staff were attentive and very efficient.
