Everything else about the stay was amazing, and the staff were great, but the problem with C3 made this a one-star experience. One of its doors wouldn’t lock, and we only discovered that late at night when we went to check the sliding door in the spare room. The unit is on the first floor. Staff already knew about it and didn’t warn us beforehand or offer any credit for the trouble. We asked to move rooms, but weren’t given another one, and our request for a credit was also refused. If you have kids or need an extra room, I wouldn’t stay in C3. The views and location are great, but the owner needs to fix that door. I’d have rated the place five stars otherwise. Guests are put at risk when staff aren’t told to disclose a problem like this. It feels like making money mattered more than guest security, and there should be a unit available for emergencies.

The gardens are beautifully kept, and there’s both an indoor and outdoor pool, plus a sauna and hot tub. The rooms feel private and are all spacious, though the beds were a little hard for me. We enjoyed the good food, friendly staff, and gym, and the views were great. It’s close to Velas. Definitely a good stay on Sao Jorge.

We stayed for two full weeks this time, after visiting for just a couple of days eight years ago. Our two-bedroom apartment was a great base for exploring Sao Jorge, or simply unwinding by the relaxing pool. The rooms were comfortable and the views spectacular. Max took wonderful care of our requests. Housekeeping helped whenever we asked; for a longer stay we don’t need much beyond trash removal and fresh towels every few days. It’s a short drive to Velas or the airport. Several restaurants outside Velas are within 15 minutes, and the on-site restaurant takes dinner reservations Thursday through Sunday. The island is small enough to cross by highway in about an hour, so nature parks and trails are easy to reach. If you don’t rent a car, the resort can help arrange taxis or transportation. They can also point you toward businesses or shops if you need suggestions. Until next time, friends, thanks for everything!

Getting around will take a car or taxi since it’s outside the main area, but this quiet little piece of heaven on Sao Jorge is well worth it. The accommodations are beautiful and spotless, the views are amazing, and the staff were very helpful and friendly. Highly recommend.

This was the best hotel on our Azores trip. The room and accommodation were great, the outdoor pool and whirlpool were beautiful, and the hotel staff were very friendly. Breakfast was the one thing that could use a little more variety. All around, a very nice stay.
