This family-run guesthouse has been here since 1953, and it felt like home to us. It was clean, lovely, and welcoming, with a great location. We enjoyed our stay a lot.

We left because the encounter made us completely uncomfortable on what was meant to be a relaxing day. A cyclist who is part of the guesthouse approached my father, who is over 72 and has heart problems, and claimed we could not fish there. The Rio Vouga is public, and we had a fishing license. He spoke over us without giving us a chance to explain that we were following the law. We had been waiting on the terrace for service, but nobody came. I saw the notice and went twice looking for the side entrance, but that door was locked and there was still no one to help us. I later saw other reviews mentioning that the entrance is poorly marked and hard to find. After the cyclist confronted us, I went inside and bought drinks and ice creams to show we did intend to pay and had been there in good faith. He still complained that it was unethical to sit on the terrace without buying anything. His approach was hasty and rude, and the way he kept complaining felt pedantic and completely out of line. We felt practically driven away. An 11-year-old child was there and became very frightened by his behavior. Tourists should not be treated this way. It left me thinking the business is not ready to welcome customers. The encounter was excessive, confusing, and unprofessional, and turned a day of leisure into something frightening. I suggest he get training in dealing with the public. Please consider what happened and how it was handled. May God have mercy on you.

We came across this guesthouse by chance and stopped only for lunch. The woman at reception welcomed us warmly and cooked our meal herself, and it was really good. We decided to stay the night, then realized this place is more than a guesthouse. It has a feeling of peace, harmony, and fellowship. A great choice if you want to enjoy the thermal baths, about 200 metres further on.
