Quinta Das Hortencias

The garden and ocean views are amazing, and everything was super clean. It’s 15 min by car to Ponta Delgada. There was a bottle of water in the room every day, and breakfast was nice with good coffee. We could use the kitchen freely all day, and laundry cost 5€. 👌🥰 I highly recommend this beautiful place.

The garden was what fascinated me most. We were lucky to visit when nearly everything was in bloom, and with kids it was a great place to enjoy a peaceful moment. The rooms were clean and comfortable, the terrace was large with a fantastic view, and breakfast was good too. It’s a gem tucked away at the end of a narrow alley.

Our ocean view suite was absolutely lovely, with a balcony and two chairs that were perfect for sitting. In the morning I loved leaving the doors open and letting the breeze bring the nearby honeysuckle scent into the room. The staff were lovely and gave us great ideas for things to do nearby, as well as excellent food recommendations. Breakfast was excellent: local breads, homemade jams, yogurt ready to go, cheese, ham, and drinks. I’d definitely stay again. The only downside was the lack of screen doors or windows, since it would be nice to leave them open at night without worrying about bugs. I think that may be common locally. The little B&B sits in a tranquil spot beyond a narrow road and entrance.

A really lovely little place, with beautiful grounds and gardens that made the slightly scary narrow road up there worth it, especially in a rental car. I’d mentioned on the booking form that I was coeliac, and they provided gluten-free breakfast options each day. The staff were friendly and helpful. A lovely place to stay.
