Casa Da Piedade

A lovely garden and a place that really feels like home. We enjoyed our stay and will definitely return next time we're in magical Madeira :)

The setting and gardens are stunning. We visited in March and didn't use the pool, though I can imagine it would be lovely in summer with those views. You'll need a rental car to stay here. Staff were friendly, polite, and very helpful. Breakfast was cooked to order, and we found a welcome Port and dessert in our room. The house and bedrooms were great, though there's one thing to be aware of: communal areas sit right outside the bedroom doors, and the doors don't block much sound. Upstairs rooms open onto the dining room and kitchen, while downstairs rooms open onto a lounge with a fireplace, TV, and games. It's a wonderful room to relax in if you get there first, but noise from the TV or people cooking could be annoying right outside the bedrooms. Guests seemed to understand and kept their voices down indoors, including at breakfast. It felt a little odd at first that everyone was whispering, but louder voices could quickly bother others. How it feels may depend on how considerate the other guests are. It wasn't a problem for us, and we liked how quiet it was. We'd definitely go back.

The garden and pool are wonderful, and the accommodation itself is excellent. Rooms were clean and pretty, with a gorgeous view. Breakfast was great, and they paid close attention to allergies. They even put together a nice little package when we asked because we had to leave early. Gladly recommend it!

We were well looked after throughout, and the service was amazing. Breakfast each morning was a real pleasure, too. The grounds were quiet and peaceful, and our beautiful room was in a gorgeous old house up in the mountains. A lovely little nature retreat, highly recommended.
