The beds were excellent and the staff were very helpful. We also ate at the hotel, where dinner was reasonably priced, the wine was great, and the value was good overall. As part of the stay, we got daily cleaning, fresh towels, and a generous breakfast. Our apartment in Lapa dos Dinheiros was comfortable, with fantastic mountain views and a pool overlooking the area. The village streets leading up to it are narrow and steep, with slopes reaching 20%. The apartment isn’t ideal for cooking for yourself: there are only two burners, not much light, and very little kitchenware. A couple of small things needed attention, like bathtubs that wouldn’t close properly. The pool was lovely, though pine needles from the surrounding trees often collected in it.

The pool sits above the apartments, with lovely views over the surroundings. The apartment itself is in the mountain village of Lapa dos Dinheiros and has fantastic mountain views. Getting there means driving up narrow, steep streets, with slopes of around 20%.

The access road is in poor condition. Apart from that, the house is very comfortable overall, though the main bedroom could use a better bathroom.

Breakfast was always delicious, with freshly made bread and cake, and Sra. Lusitana was a wonderful host. The apartment was spotless and had all the kitchen utensils we needed. It’s a lovely, peaceful spot with a pool and a wonderful view, ideal if you want to unwind away from the chaos of big cities. We’d definitely return.
