A Casa do Tio Tenente

The house has huge, comfortable en-suite rooms, a giant kitchen and living room, and all the dishes and equipment a group needs. The barbecue area is set up professionally too. It’s a great place to get together and relax in the quiet of central Portugal, with several good river beaches nearby. I was surprised by how well equipped it was. My only wish was that it had a pool, though the nearby river beaches make swimming easy. The owners really know how to make the most of the house.

Cláudia was a lovely, warm host, and the decor deserves top marks. We spent two days in complete peace, close to nature, without giving up any comforts. I’d highly recommend it for a family gathering. We’d love to come back as soon as we can.

Inside, the house feels quite welcoming, even though its exterior looks like something from a horror movie. The common room has computers, a printer, games, comfy sofas, a TV and a fireplace right in the middle. There are TVs around the rest of the house as well. The shared kitchen has alcoholic drinks available, and the lady brought us fresh bread and other food. The wood-covered walls made it a bit warm, but thankfully there were fans in several spots.

There’s loads of room and privacy in this huge, well-equipped house, so it works really well for big groups.
