Ma Maison A Zambujal

Getting around without a car was a real challenge. It’s hard to leave with luggage because taxis aren’t readily available in the area, and buses are very infrequent on weekends. We were also told Bolt and Uber worked there, but even getting a taxi was difficult. The house has everything you need apart from mosquito repellent. It was great during the day, but miserable at night: the owner provided nothing for mosquitoes and hadn’t told us to bring our own.

The house looks just like the photos, and the location is beautiful. But getting around was nearly impossible without a car, since Ubers were hard to find and the buses had huge delays. The landlord had said it would be easy to get an Uber. If you do bring a car, be prepared for the lady to ask you for a ride and not accept no for an answer. You’re also expected to water her plants. Bring mosquito products too, because sleeping at night was impossible and there was nothing available at the supermarket.

A great spot for a holiday.

The artistic details around the house made it feel like another world, and the grounds and pool were a lovely place to unwind. There was plenty of room for our large family, with a well-equipped kitchen and two toilets and two bathrooms spread over two levels. We had a wonderful stay in this magnificent house. Highly recommended.
