José was a fantastic host, and welcomed us with pasteis de nata, crackers, cheese, and wine. Every couple of days, he’d come by to clean the pool, and stop for a chat if we were around. The villa was beautiful and spacious, perfect for our two families of 10. We loved the larger-than-expected pool, especially swimming in the evening with the lights on, and the view of Castelo de Sesimbra lit up at night. There was lots of room to eat inside or out, comfortable beds, air conditioning throughout, and a well-equipped kitchen. We also did a lot of cooking on the BBQ. The gated entrance made us feel more secure. There’s a great patisserie just a couple of minutes away on foot, ideal for breakfast and traditional treats. Sesimbra is downhill from the villa, and parking there can be a nightmare, so you need to arrive early. Highly recommend Villa Branca do Castelo.

The house is stunning, with great facilities and a gorgeous private pool area that isn’t overlooked at all. José was a brilliant host. He came by every few days to clean the pool and empty the bins, and gave us plenty of tips on local places to eat and visit.

Jose went out of his way to make us feel at home, even leaving local wine and treats for us. The villa sits in the hills above Sesimbra, about a 45-minute drive from Lisbon. It’s newly decorated, with lovely gardens, a pool, BBQ and everything we needed for ten people. Sesimbra is wonderful for seafood, and the sandy beach slopes gently into the water, which is great for families.

You’ll need your own car, but the setting is lovely: in a local neighborhood with views of the hills and Sesimbra castle, away from the tourist area. The host is friendly and cares about the environment. For example, the pool uses salt water instead of chlorinated water. A really fantastic holiday home.

We’d happily come back. The villa has everything you might need, and the comfort is top-notch. The owner is very friendly and attentive to guests. Highly recommended.
